I'm interested this next summer in trying may apples and solomon's seal, but I have to process some of the plants I'm finding out about as things to be happy about seeing because they keep people in my neighborhood healthy even if I can't eat them very often. Right now I could live on yellow dock and dandelion except I couldn't. I want to try dames rocket next year. I figure all these plants are things I can eat once or twice a year, but the stuff myself and a lot of people call wild flox is actually a brasica plant that can be eaten like broccoli. I also want to try milkweed and cattail pollen if I can find a place to gather it where people wouldn't freak the hell out or isn't officially posted.
The bolete I've been gathering is alternately called slippery jack and chicken fat, it may or may not be the exact same species that grows in siberia though that one grows under a greater variety of pines. I should make more soup more often. I left the soup bone on the stove today on 2, and don't plan to turn it off until a little before I go to bed tonight. yesterday I simmered it for 4 hours and this morning I skimmed off the hardened fat at the top. Tomorrow I'll skim any more fat that comes to the top, take out the bones and boil it down to fit a small container and probably freeze it. I keep looking at all the containers I had to use to put up that compote I made that I'm not using very fast.
I checked out the most absurd book on "mushroom essences" where this woman was saying you can make spiritual infusions of mushrooms by placing small vials of spring water next to them. I got that from the medical section. Someone just happening to smell herbal in a wheelchair just rolled up next to me at random.
I was thinking about a staged patch of turkey tail over a fence and how if I jumped that fence the guy who owns that land would probably try to hit me up for a vial of something. So I decided to skip it. I was thinking about how people could add rat poison or god knows what to it and say it was just as I handed it over. I have enough to worry about with my own family, scattered across the entire world, and I think its healing for them to work with local healers. I talk about different substances and methods and the meta methods, and some are gatherers themselves and others are more urban. I remembered thinking Eve was a more appropriate name for one of them, because of her appearance Dad said he felt the need to send her contribution to people who would deploy it all at once, and it also had the impact of settling her mind on certain matters. The angels and yetis want to know about any eggs we don't get fertilized, and we have to placate them by participating in other people's fertility whenever they start to get too agitated to talk to.
I was talking to the wider family about national concerns. I can talk the yetis and angels into killing people, we don't have a relationship with Russia right now so the need to keep glands from getting clogged is being added to the process of taking back land that was subject to defunct agreements. Anything happening locally has to be cleared with the Secret Service and we all feel that Sunny needs that more than I do, but I typically ride along on those hunting trips.
As for the appearance related concerns of another of my daughters, and the fact that Frogman has to be policed constantly because he keeps trying to take over the world if he isn't kept busy (apparently I have a sister assigned to that task since Commando seems committed to the Bearing Sea region), we don't have a program to send any of her children to Russia but we no longer consider Siberia to be Russia. We are breeding her to hybrid males, not exclusively, but extensively, and not all at once because it would be a security problem if she got less random too fast. But also a of her kids are going to Korea and a few are staying in Mongolia.
Other family matters are being addressed at the highest levels of our nation. There are still people trying to crack past the birth certificate barrier, and its been explained to them that there is no revocation of these documents once issued but that there is a provision for birth parents to express safety concerns to the Secret Service and other agencies. The files kept about people's previous identities have no bearing on their citizenship and that the people who are trying to raise a stink about this need to be grateful about it because vice presidents can technically be deported back to Russia if they don't can it.
