The original Islamic Brotherhood was just a bunch of educated literate people reading the Quran and criticizing the government. The first bombings were done by governmental agencies to discredit them. But people were more attracted to the bombing activity than the reading and criticizing thing and the real group began to change.
Its possible the original Smokey Branch was a spoof, but real killing followed.
