When I first came back to IU I was wearing handmedown clothes, living in the cheapest apartment I could find and I did not even pay to have a phone. I was trying to get by as cheaply as possible to minimize the cost of my education.
So I was using public telephones to call and check in with Gramps on a weekly basis.
At that time, many of the KKK people on campus thought I was pretty cool because I used the word nigger from time to time. But one day they over heard me telling gramps that there shouldnt be any niggers at universitys and that I didnt come here to learn about my subordinateness, but to empower myself and I was disturbed that people here would accept that they could get ahead by limiting their lives to the world view dictated to them by racists.
So they ran around telling everyone I was a racist, basically telling people I say nigger, and not allowing anyone to explain what I meant when I said things that way.
I wasnt allowed to talk to anyone at all anymore, and if anyone was seen to be agreeing with me on anything they would also say that they must be racist too.
Well, from my point of view, if you accept that kind of thing, then maybe you are a nigger. Enjoy.
