Upbringings

Once upon a time, an emperor didnt know the full truth about his mother's line. When he had a son with certain marks he insisted on his purity and that no one needed to worry, he was certain to be compatable with the emperial upbringing. He said "relieve the alternate" who was sent to live as a commener and learn a trade. He had just gotten married when the "pure" son was found face down in less than a foot of water drowned. It was determined absolutely that he had not the sense to turn his head and breathe having never developed the ability to know good from bad experiences.
So they had to bring the alternate back, who was slightly older and as I said already married to a woman who could never come to court. He tried to bring her closer but she always complained that "foxes" were bothering her. He would send her letters and in time he became aware that she tought he didnt believe her like he used to, and that had been their relationship, that she understood him and he believed her. When she was murdered, he was told she committed suicide on hearing about the empress. So he split.
Thats my grandfather.
