When you cut down a tree, unless you have looked at the tree closely and put chains on it, you dont really know which way its gonna fall. Even if you know a lot about trees, you never know where the hollow spots are or where it has inclusions just by looking at a tree, so you can do your best to cut it on the right angle and it will still fall the wrong way.
So when the jesuits tipped off the lower ranking tibetans that they werent really budhist, expecting them to become self concious half cocked muslims, they were not prepared for them to reform themselves a little closer to budhism.
That has to be trippin a lot of people out right now, especially those who decided to go up on the ridges and see whose tracks were up there.
