Im really good at just barely showing what I am capable of doing on an instrument without actually doing it. When no one who can explain it to anyone else is around I play even better. Today I think I was thumb wrestling with my dad, I figured out I play better when I stabilize the wii controler with my thumb but every time I start messing up I find my thumb is moved to an uncomfortable and ineffective position and it just refuses to come back and when I do manage to get it to move back into place I play a few bars and it goes jutting right back out again.
Thats just one thing that I have noticed, there are a million other things.
Music scouts say this stuff is worse than really sucking, because it means I can play but they can never control how I will play in different venues. Not all music scouts, they dont all work for the same people, and my husband's people are different.
But it would surprise me if I ever played more than private family performances of some sort, though it would also surprise me if my husband really wanted me to play the koto.
