There are plenty of those around too. The useful kind of pachyderm recognizes when people fall under their purview and when they fall outside of it. You can count on them doing certain things to certain people or to people who do certain things. Some do only one thing to one type some do several things to several types and there are differences in the number of people they can process at one time or if they can have several groups started at different times or if they only process one group at a time. Some compare people to others, some are not that complicated, but as long as you know what gets them to do their thing you can work with them, either knowing they wont bother anyone they aren't supposed to mess with or that they will stay contained in an area where you can keep people out of.
But there are other less useful pachyderms like the ones who insist they aren't pachyderms, whose profile group is too large or non specific, whose product is always more troublemakers. But I only said less useful and not useless, because the folks back home just asked me when I started telling "the neighbors are inbred jokes" and I had to admit it was a result of living around here.
