I think about Lotus Fest a lot when I'm looking at bands on Facebook or YouTube, but some seem more plausible or made for the US than others. Honestly when it comes to the Siberians and Mongolians I sit here thinking about how they'd place on the spectrum around here and there is a consistent range in which they will not be showing up here, Altai Band and Altai Kai for example, not a snowball's chance in hell. Alash had a member that wasn't with them here, and it surprises me not the least, but I also think about the people I know who are in that area of the various variations who had no choice but to grow up around here, and those of us who communicate this way get much more out of watching a musical performance on Facebook than we'd get out of any lecture at a university and have no desire to see people like this out of their element when they can send us pictures and videos from wherever they are.
