Hypoglycemic Shock and Other Reflexes

In a perfect world, beggars would run marathons on empty stomachs for the pleasure of the rich. Thats what the modern world tells us. It tells us that by self dicipline we can overcome any circumstances and live up to any standard of behaviour or achievment. In reality we cant hold our hands to a blow torch due to reflexes that make us pull our hands back without our choice and even if we overcame that, we would sustain burns that would become infected and we would die a horrible and painful death.
In reality, children dont learn to read spontaineously, they dont learn that society is a good place full of friendly people while being beaten by other children at random but frequent intervals. The more times you get struck in the head the less you are capable of sounding pleasing of words to the people you will be forced to turn to and they will not help you.
In reality when these children reach 18 the accumulation of their lost opportunities will be blamed wholly on them.
Government is like the heart of the body. It regulates the circulation of blood. An equal amount of blood is supposed to flow out as flows in. This circulation is supposed to reach the whole body in measured amounts. Not all parts recieve the same flow, but they recieve enough to serve their function. In a sick body the heart either over or under feeds different parts of the body. The extremities might not get any blood at all, or there might be a pool of blood in the heart, or the brain may get little flow while the stomach gets a lot. Each organ of the body has the potential to cause the death of the whole organism if neglected. In addition, if the body has no imune system the blood that flows around can be completely toxic.
We rationalize most of our policies on the basis of limited resources. We allow parts of our populace to deal with crimes without help because the people doing those crimes have the right comportment before those who are making the laws, while those effected have been hit on the head, deprived of food, sleep, education and opportunities to socialize, work and spend from their earnings in an enjoyable way after meeting their needs in a reasonable way. Then we wonder why our country is floundering.
