Im crossing a barier to tell this tale, so Im not able to verify all the details.
Singapore used to grant assylum but stopped or made the process much harder because everytime someone got shelter there from some evil out in the world, that evil went unchallanged and grew worse. So when my sister took me from Hanoi to Singapore without gettin authorization first she ran afoul of their law and order system. I was too young to be subject to it, but as many mothers would go to jail to get their children to a safe place I was not allowed to stay for more than some training before I was placed outside. My sister got a reprieve for the duration of this period.
About 15 years later she came up with a plan, especially since all the children placed outside were being systematically hunted down by someone, all the mothers and the sister would give up on apeals if their children or sisters could be given a place in Singapore. The plan was then amended, so that the children were given a choice, to get out of their problems where they were and leave their mothers or sister in jail, or to stay where they were and fight it out with a little more backup and their sister gets out of jail.
Of cource here I am so I said no, I'll stay, but I waffled to the point of getting on the helecopter then asking to be put back down. The thing is I was so beat up it looked like a medilift. I had quite litterally been left for dead when I was asked the question. So my sister got out of jail, I got patched back togeather.
Another reason assylums were suspended was that Singapore is ending or moving. It was to encourage people to find new places of shelter.
