A Note About Extra Arms In Art

In chinese artwork, people with extra arms are often depicted as having two arms, especially women, but instead of how many other arms they have they show scarves. Im sure they have something similar for wings, but when representing the same woman in animal form, animals dont wear scarves. I think it would be hard to depict wings any kind of way if a tiger was depicted crawling up someones back, but it might be easier if it were clawing its way out of the back, but Im thinking more traditional japanese escheresque no real blood and guts represented, only implied.
