Pot is not a gateway drug any more than sidewalks are. You might find someone dropped a drug on the sidewalk accidentally much more often than you will find someone dropped a drug next to a plant in your garden.
The gateway to harder drugs is the dealer, who is a business person who is usually looking to expand and grow and they have to do marketing as well so you might go to the grocery store to buy milk and eggs but you have to pass the brownies and cheesy poofs to get there and somehow they end up going home with you too, but that wouldn't happen if you only went to the barn for milk and eggs.
