When I went to see the kids' recital they played a piece from an album I sometimes check out from the library (and am afraid to return because the yat ka cd they had here seems to have gotten lost somewhere and I worry that these cd's will also disappear, honestly also if I was going to steal a disk from the library it would have been the yat ka and not kickboxer which I suspect is in apartment 2 at this very moment).
They told me this morning that they had not been well received the night before and I pointed out that their jazz is good but too jazz and not ethnic enough which I guess is what other people said, and people really don't go to see Mongols in the US for jazz anyway, and think they were told this too, and that between Saturday night and Sunday afternoon they had worked out a couple of new songs entirely from just having a friend or mentor make them available to listen to on the internet. I mean that they played the songs entirely from ear having started working on them in that arrangement less than 24 hours before performance though the tune in general was already known to them.
I told Cthulhu she was seeming less knobby kneed to me and she said it was clear that she would be knobby kneed in her 80's but she knew what I meant though I'd already pointed out that she'd see that as I lost weight too, and we really shouldn't grow into our knees in our family anyway.
*as soon as I heard what they were playing I wondered if they knew I was listening to this album or not, I had mentioned it on my blog, or how many steps there were to Kevin Bacon on this whole thing*
